Where Will This Stop?

Hurricanes and tropical storms are named as either male or female with names that typically sound male or female. In this era of inclusiveness, it’s only a matter of time before the hurricane naming procedures need to undergo some changes. To accommodate everyone who now demands that we be tolerant, the naming procedures should name some of the “male” hurricanes and tropical storms with female names and vice versa. Also, some percentage of them should be named as male or female, but then the name could be considered to change gender at some point before it’s dissipated. Maybe we should just have all gender neutral names for the hurricanes and tropical storms. This may sound ridiculous, but it’s not anymore ridiculous than what we are seeing taking place all over this country right now.

Now that the military is allowing open homosexuality, there are already demands for the military to also recognize “transgender” persons (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/28/after-demise-of-dont-ask-activists-call-for-end-to/). Now that the gate has been opened, there is no logical reason to stop anywhere with this. If no morality is to be recognized as absolute, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to follow any moral code of behavior. Without someone outside of ourselves being recognized as the author of what is moral versus immoral, there is no argument for rejecting anything as immoral except by the worldly way of deciding it by majority rule and relativism. God’s word is clear that what God says is sinful is still sinful even if everyone believes otherwise. The DNA of someone who wants to call themselves either gender still makes it clear what gender that person really is; if they don’t want to recognize the obvious, it doesn’t change it.

The absolute truth contained in God’s word must continue to be taught whether it’s rejected or not. To deny the full authority of scripture is to destroy the entirety of its truth and relevance to humanity in all times. The pastor in Iran who is sentenced to die (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=iran%20pastor%20faces%20execution&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CDkQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fworld%2F2011%2F09%2F28%2Firanian-pastor-faces-execution-for-refusing-to-recant-christian-faith%2F&ei=whSFTt3kFse1twfqpv0s&usg=AFQjCNGz8gmL9LdMWFmrcsFSlcLdgeVopw) solely for being a Christian certainly understands the absolute truth of God’s word and he is willing to die for it. Cannot the pastors and churches in America who don’t face this kind of threat (not yet anyway) find it needful to boldly proclaim the truth of God’s word in the face of opposition? The New Testament church did so. Will we?

Obama’s Betrayal of Israel

It has been shocking to behold the rapid change that has been taking place around the world over the last few years. Only a few years ago, although still very challenging, Israel had enough allies that its future was more certain. Now, after the fall of one after another leader in the Middle East and North Africa, Israel finds itself surrounded by countries which oppose them and vocally want to see their demise. In May of this year, President Obama even publicly stated, ahead of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to America, that he thought Israel should return to its pre-1967 borders which are well understood to be indefensible by Israel.

It’s interesting that the 2010 leak of U.S. diplomatic cables show that, in late 2008, there was secretive U.S. support given to rebels in Egypt while there was public support voiced for Mubarak. The leaked cables actually helped to spur many of the uprisings in countries that now have more anti-Israel sentiment than they ever had. The leaking of these cables actually served to help achieve the purposes of those who want to see the destruction of Israel and the timing of these leaked cables is certainly suspicious. The new government of Egypt is extremely anti-Israel and joins Iran in wanting to see the country cease to exist. Another example is Libya where President Obama and other European countries have backed rebels who are forming another Islamic state and recently have decided that Sharia law will be in place to govern them. Turkey is now also turning against Israel in voicing its support for Palestinian statehood.

Next week, the United Nations will get together to consider a Palestinian state. While it’s clear that the Obama administration wants to see a Palestinian state, they are publicly threatening to veto what they are behind the scenes trying to secure. Israel has survived against great odds in the past, but since 2008, those odds are rapidly being stacked against them through the policies of one of their allies.

Those who are plotting the demise of Israel should read Amos 9:15, “And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.” More importantly, they should read Ezekiel 38 and 39. God will not allow Israel to be defeated. Obama’s actions of encouraging the enemies of Israel will certainly not bring the blessings of God upon this country.
